Descrizione

Mechanics of Materials stands at the intersection of theoretical and applied mechanics and engineering, unveiling the rationale behind mechanisms and processes in natural media, conceiving effective mathematical approaches for analysing discrete structures and continuous media, and underpinning innovations in structural design — from passive to active and biological systems that harness energy-driven responses for adaptive functionality — and performance optimization in advanced manufacturing.

This mini-symposium emphasizes the critical need for robust analytical methods and general modeling strategies enabling the interpretation and prediction of complex mechanical behaviors — including nonlinear elasticity, viscoelasticity, poroelasticity, damage, fracture, and instability — across soft and hard materials, architected structures, and active/biological matter that might inspire man-made mechanical systems. Ultimately, contributions on how to take advantage of such advancements to conceive and design next-generation composites with tailored properties for transformative applications are very elasticity, viscoelasticity, poroelasticity, damage, fracture, and instability — across soft and hard materials, architected structures, and active/biological matter that might inspire man-made mechanical systems.

Ultimately, contributions on how to take advantage of such advancements to conceive and design next-generation composites with tailored properties for transformative applications are very welcome.
